WELCOME SMITH CLASS OF 1980

This year holds an extra significance for most of us in the Class of 1980.  We turn 65, register for Medicare, and potentially begin a next chapter in our lives. This opportunity for change inspires me, as so many of those we love do not have the privilege of turning 65.  And the Class of 1980 knows how to celebrate milestones with that certain “je ne sais quoi!”

These gatherings and our official 45th Class Reunion in 2025 offer us the mixture of joy and community highlighted by our President Sarah Willie-LeBreton in her welcome back letter to the Smith community. Her energy is palpable.

She writes, ‘“joy” and “community” are important words. To me, they are often mutually constitutive: Joy can be a byproduct of community, and genuine community enriches our sense of joy. This year, I’ll be looking for ways to create and contribute to our community, and I encourage you to do the same. There will be opportunities—both informal and formal—to come together in recognition of our shared pursuits and our delightful differences.”

I  plan to seek out these opportunities and look forward to hearing about how you connect with our special Smith College community this fall.

Over the next several years, we’ll find ways to strengthen our Smith connections as we plan for our 45th reunion in May, 2025.

We’ll post news, upcoming events and photos of our class on this website in the years leading up to reunion, so check back often. We’re glad you’re here!
